Quick Facts: Of the more than 25 stelae found at the site, at least 8 are carved, one of which remains the tallest carved stela in Belize, measuring 31ft. The name of the site is Maya for ‘Big Hat’ and was taken from the person depicted on this stela, who wore a large headdress.
