The National Institute of Culture and History (NICH) is Belize’s premier cultural institution. Its various divisions include the Institute of Archaeology (IA), Institute of Creative Arts (ICA), Institute for Social and Cultural Research (ISCR) and Museum of Belize & Houses of Culture (MOB – HOC). These divisions maintain an open and collaborative approach to cultural heritage and arts promotion, management and cultural safeguarding with its various stakeholders.

Belize Culture Fund
The Belize Culture Fund (BCF) is a small-grants programme administered by the National Institute of Culture and History (NICH) under the Ministry of Education, Culture Science, and Technology.
The BCF aims to protect and safeguard Belize’s tangible and intangible cultural heritage and promote the growth of the expressive arts and creative industry.

The National Institute of Culture and History (NICH), a statutory board under the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Technology, is pleased to announce that Belize has been awarded a US $98,600 grant by UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage. This grant will support the implementation of the project “Empowering Communities for the Safeguarding of Belize’s Foodways: A Community-Based Inventory Project for Sustainable Development and Disaster Resilience.”
