This ancient Maya trading center was a major ceremonial center during the Classic Period.  Located 31 miles from Belize City on the Old Northern Highway, Altun Ha offers a glimpse into the rich cultural heritage of Belize amidst its serene landscape.  A host of valuable artifacts have been excavated from Altun Ha including the largest carved jade in Mesoamerica, the Jade Head.

Opening Hours:
All sites are open every day including Sundays and Public & Bank holidays
All sites are opened between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm

Last Tours:
One (1) hour before closing (departure by 5:00 pm)

For Visitor Safety :

  • Wear outdoor-appropriate footwear for rugged terrain
  • Remain on demarcated trails
  • Use handrails where provided
  • Only 15 visitors allowed per Tour Guide
  • No loud noise, shouting or music permitted
  • No jumping permitted on monuments
