These guidelines ensure the flag is represented consistently and respectfully in all official use.

ABOUT

The Belize Flag

The Belize Flag consists of a blue field bordered by a narrow red stripe at the top and bottom. At its center, the Coat of Arms is enclosed within a white disc and surrounded by 50 scorn-of-the-earth leaves, symbolic of 1950 when Belize’s modern independence movement began.

The Belize Flag was officially adopted on September 21, 1981.

The official guide establishing standards for the accurate and respectful use, production, display, and reproduction of Belize’s national symbols, including the Belize Coat of Arms and National Flag.

The development of The Belize Coat of Arms and National Flag Guidelines 2025 was made possible through the invaluable input and partnership of the National Institute of Culture and History, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Culture with assistance from the staff of the Belize Archives and Records Service and the Belize National Library Service and Information Systems.
