IA Enforcement Technician Represents Belize at UNESCO Forum
The Institute of Archaeology is proud to recognize Enforcement Technician Paul Smith, who recently participated in the 2025 World Heritage Young Professionals Forum, held from July 1st to 8th at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, France. Supported by the Republic of Bulgaria, this prestigious forum brought together 25 emerging heritage professionals from around the world under the theme “World Heritage in an Interconnected World: Leveraging Digital Technologies and Innovative Approaches.”
Throughout the week, participants engaged in high-level discussions and presentations on heritage management, conservation, digital modelling, and the use of emerging technologies such as AI, VR, and AR in the preservation of cultural heritage. The forum concluded with the collaborative drafting of the 2025 WHYPF Declaration, which was formally presented at the 47th session of the World Heritage Committee.

Paul’s participation reflects the growing role of young professionals in safeguarding heritage through innovation and international collaboration. The Institute of Archaeology extends its congratulations and is proud to see Belizean representation at such an important global platform.
